Bob Samuelson, 2025

He played one-year of HS VB at Westchester while also playing basketball. He then competed at Pierce College where he was 1986 California State Co-JC Player of the Year after leading his team to an undefeated JC state title playing for coach Ken ‘Big Daddy’ Stanley. He then transferred for two years at Cal State Northridge, making AVCA All-American both years as a 6-5 middle blocker/outside hitter. He had a CSUN career best of 44 kills in a match. He left school after making the USA National Team at a 1989 try-out. He played for the USA at the 1989 and 1991 World Cups (won bronze in 1991- was selected to the All-Spectacular Team in Japan), and 1990 championships. He was then instrumental in the USA winning the bronze medal at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.

He led the USA in blocks and aces and was second in kills and hitting percentage. He was picked with Bryan Ivie on the 12-man World Gala Team, the highest Olympic honor. He left the USA program after winning bronze at the 1994 World Championships to play in Japan where he was league MVP in 1995. He has done youth coaching locally, in Las Vegas, and Austin. He is the father to triplet boys. He was inducted into the CSUN HOF in 1994.
