The standout athlete attended Laguna Beach HS and was an All-CIF selection and Orange County Volleyball Player of the Year and an All-State basketball pick. Picking VB for college, he became a Pepperdine starting outside hitter and won the 1992 NCAA title in an All-American college career for Marv Dunphy. He was the first African-American starter on a NCAA VB title team.

He then went into Beach Volleyball and won 2000 Sydney Olympic Beach Gold Medal with Eric Fonoimoana. He partnered with current USC men’s coach Jeff Nygaard in 2004 Athens Beach. He has done both indoor and beach TV commentary for both NBC and ESPN. He was Assistant Beach Coach at USC for their NCAA title teams in 2016 and 2017 and became Trojan head coach for the 2020 beach season.
