Dan Glenn, 2026
He played volleyball at Huntington Beach HS, and Orange Coast College and finished his college degree at UC Santa Barbara, with a teaching credential from UC Irvine and master’s from Azusa Pacific. His greatest success coaching came with boys and girls at Newport Harbor HS for 35 years (also coached at University and Edison). He won 10 CIF Titles (seven in girls from 1987-2009, including 3 straight), and three in boys (1987-2002), plus five girls’ California State titles (1992, ‘94, ’98, ’99, 2009), and one National Championship (1994). Overall, his girls’ teams made the CIF finals 17 times and his boys made the finals six times, winning 13 CIF titles. He finished with 1178 wins (683 girls/495 boys). He coached numerous NCAA college champions including SCIVBHOFers Misty May-Treanor and April Ross. In 2009, he was diagnosed with iris melanoma, a rare form of cancer in his right eye, which slowed his schedule, but he kept coaching volleyball in the OC and has been involved now for over 50 years. He was also successful coaching at the Balboa Bay Club around high school. He was inducted into the CIF Southern Section Athletics Hall of
Fame in 2023.
