Michael was the 2023 AVCA High School Coach of the Year at Loyola as Boys Head Coach since 1997. He is one of best of all-time with a 598-84 life-time record, .877 winning percentage, plus a 264-2 league record, and a 74-18 all-time post-season re-cord. He has won 25 Mis-sion League Titles in 26 years; made at least CIF quar-ter-finals in 24 of 26 years, with 6 CIF Division I Championships (2003, 2004, 2005, 2009, 2010, 2016), 5 So. California Regional Championships (2009, 2010,2012, 2017, 2023), 3 State titles (2009, 2010, 2012), 3 National Championships (2009, 2017, 2023), and has produced almost 50 Division I Scholarship Players. He has been selected as the 7-time CIF Coach of the Year, plus 2-time State Coach of the Year. His 2023 team was again Regional champ and selected as AVCA/USA To-day National Champion. He is also an owner/coach at the Manhattan Beach Surf Volleyball Club since the start of the 2010s. He played at Santa Monica College and graduated from Cal State Dominguez Hills. For five years he played on the AVP circuit, winning 1990 Laguna Beach Open. His sons and daughter have been college scholarship players, plus his brother Dan coached the 2023 El Segundo Little League title team.
